We manufacture it using a high-grade aluminium, so it’s completely scratch and fade-resistant, and won’t display any signs of ageing. When the doors become dirty, a quick wipe with a wet cloth will do the job of making them look pristine again. The running system is concealed to prevent anything from obstructing it and stopping the doors running freely.

Easy Glide System – You’re unlikely to gain sight of the bottom of each individual section of door, but we can tell you that they have a solid aluminium carriage where four wheels run inside a low threshold track. A high resilient nylon is used to create the wheels so that they can resist degradation caused by heat or friction, and they spin around a hardened stainless steel shaft on its own set of bearings along a stainless steel track.

Low Level Threshold – Choose a low level threshold for a flawless finish externally and internally, in one of two possible options; weather and non-weathered. It will cleverly create one space out of two.

A 2 pane bi-folding door has one possible configuration, either an inward or outward opening. An outward opening is your best option if you cannot afford to have the bi-folds taking up space inside the extension each time they’re open. You could either have them connect your conservatory or orangery to the inside of the house, or designate them as a garden opening from the extension.

We incorporate a multi-point locking system into the door design, and when it engages, it does so at several points and in several directions into a robust lock keep. This instantly keeps the door sash resolutely fixed to the door frame.

Generally, customers decide to have double glazed bi-folding door units, but we are able to supply them triple glazed if you want them to insulate your home as strongly as possible. All of the glass is internally beaded to stop anyone being able to remove it from the outside of the design, and the high-security master handles have cylinder locks to stop them being prised open.

However you decide to have your bi-folding doors configured by Micron, we will affix one of three different kinds of handle to them. Pass doors and integrated French doors will require a master handle which will house a cylinder lock, and will be used to engage the multi-point locking system when the bi-fold door is in the closed position.

Each individual door section will need a D-handle and an intermediate handle. The intermediate handle is used to release the folding panes from the door frame upon opening it, and then re-engages when the doors are closed. The role of a D-handle is to either push or pull the folding panes. You will find various modern and traditional master handles in our hardware suite, and you can colour match them with the intermediate and D-handles.

Along with offering you several different configurations for bi-folding doors, Micron is also pleased to be able to provide you with a number of colour options. Some of them we powder-coat onto the frames, or you can have one of our sublimated woodgrain finishes (available in Walnut, Rosewood and Oak) if you wish to give your bi-fold a timber effect. When one colour isn’t enough, just request a dual-coloured bi-folding door.

Offering that same timber effect, they will convince people into thinking that the slim aluminium frames are actually crafted using wood.
